The Happily Ever After Theory

It was the little moments that keep us afloat. Not a full-length of blissfulness that one so often compacted into a single phrase: "live happily ever after", but oh-so-many surreal moments. Moments that bring smile to our lips and twinkle to our eyes, moments that made us hold each other's hand a little bit stronger and secretly thankful that we have each other. It is about consciously living our lives and delighting in the smallest thing, it's about realizing who we are and our effort to be better, it's about having fun - lots and lots of fun.

The first time we drove together in his car.

Sitting close to watch the sunrise at a beach in Bali.

The first time we met, when we did not know what to expect (or even if we will ever meet).

Our first home-made dinner.

Our Knott's Berry Farm X-cellerator ride.

Summer concert in the park.

Watching Adventure Time before bedtime.

Dining on his home-made gumbo. And Italian Beef Sandwich. And cherry pie.

Feeling his stubble on my cheek, or any skin contact with each other.

Every time we say 'I love you' to one another.

Driving in the rain and see all the raindrops splash to our car windows.

Driving in the rain on our scooter and get soaking wet.

Fall asleep in each other's arm.

Waking up and found ourselves away from each other, proceed to hold each other once again and fall asleep in each other's arm.

Watching 1980's movies.

Listening to 1980's songs.

Telling terrible jokes and puns to each other.

Each kisses we share.

Cuddling on the sofa with each other and debating at what point of the movie I will fall asleep.

Sharing a meal.

Watching funny videos or silly pictures on the internet.

Saying our wedding vow.

Waking up in the morning and knowing we have each other for one more day, and feeling very thankful for it.

And for me, personally, writing about the many ways he love me and how much he means to me. With every word I realize how lucky I am to have him in my life, and this indeed is my happily ever after.

These are the moments. These are our moments. And with each new day new possibilities are unfolding, new surreal moments that we can share together and endless adventures that await us. It was more than just God's gifts though, it's a way of living (and loving). We could spend our lives thinking none of those moments matter, and lamented the boring and empty life we have; yet we can choose not to, and revel in even the simplest thing in life (summer cherries, rabbit on the yard, a calming rain). Life is but a blink of an eye; cherish it, enjoy it, live it.
